The general aim of ELAMs is to strenght the interaction and collaborationg among latinoamerican mathematicians giving the opportunity to meet, share their work and discuss issues concerning mathematics in this region.
The mathematical aim is to contribute to the development of new subjects, making PhD student and young researchers familiar with them.
We consider that being a CIMPA School will help a lot to attain these objectives. It is very important for us to encourage students coming from isolated regions – mathematically speaking- to attend. These students might have had the opportunity of attending an EMALCA recently. Following this idea, we have organized some basic courses in Spanish, whose level is slightly above courses in EMALCAs.
The School will have two main subjects: Non commutative algebra and Lie theory.
The Non-commutative algebra part will be devoted to interactions with other subjects, such as geometry – in particular regularity conditions in the non commutative setting - and functional analysis. The courses on Lie theory will be about representation theory of real reductive groups, since the recent advances in this subject are very important.
The School will also include some research conferences.
