Since the pioneering works of G. Stampacchia and H. Brézis in the sixties, the variational inequalities play a fundamental and central role in applied mathematics, at the crossroads of analysis, optimization and mechanics. This privileged situation has generated a rapid development of the topic. The main objective of the school is to train PhD students, postdocs and researchers of this part of the world (Vietnam and more widely Asia) to the recent advances in the domain of variational inequalities, quasivariational inequalities, complementarity problems and variational systems.

The main topics of the school cover Singularities in Geometry and Topology and their applications. More precisely it includes singularities of maps:singularities of polynomial maps, Jacobian conjecture, Milnor fibrations, and singularities of varieties: singularities of real and complex surfaces, characteristic classes, intersection homology, hyperplane arrangements.

Applications to medical imaging, astrophysics, computer vision or robotic will be original features of the school.

Lattices play a central role in number theory and its applications. The aim of this school is to introduce participants to the ubiquity of lattices in number theory, algebra, arithmetic algebraic geometry, cryptography and coding theory. The theory of lattices will be developed from its very beginning and the basic notions required for the applications in number theory, algebra, arithmetic algebraic geometry will be provided. Appearances of lattices that we intend to cover include : The natural lattices structures of Mordell-Weil groups and unit groups. Lie algebra root lattices.

The objective of the school is to bring together third and fourth year undergraduate students, graduate students, PhD students and young researchers of the Region with famous world experts in the school subjects areas, and to enhance Mathematics and Applications in the Region.

The mere presence of the network makes now possible computations involving data and programs from everywhere on earth. Distribution is a key technology but poses a number of programming and engineering problems. This school aims to prove that object technology is adequate for distributed programming. The Java programming language will be used to support the school.

The program on Nonlinear Analysis consists of two parts : Holomorphic partial differential equations, variational methods for stationary and evolution partial differential equations. The aim of the school is to present recent results in these two branches of Nonlinear Analysis in a form which is accessible to graduate and doctoral students in Analysis and Applied Analysis.

The aim of this CIMPA school is to provide a stimulating intellectual environment for researchers from Viet Nam and neighboring countries in Asia to interact. The school is primarily oriented towards PhD students and young researchers working in the area of stochastic partial differential equations, stochastic dynamics, stochastic analysis and their applications.

The theory of hyperplane arrangements is a modern and very active area of research. In the recent years there have been a huge progress this subject. At this CIMPA school, through 6 carefully selected courses, participants will be introduced to various aspects of Hyperplane Arrangements together with the main open questions that are still present in the area.

A complex number is called algebraic if it is a root of a non-constant polynomial with integer coefficients and is transcendental otherwise. Over recent decades, the transcendental nature of special values of certain arithmetic functions which verify functional equations has been a fascinating branch of Number Theory and attracts an incredible number of work. However, beautiful mysteries remain unsolved.
