The first doctors formed in mathematics in Africa were formed in pure mathematics or in domains where they couldn’t find any local applications. This situation makes the retraining and the creation of discipline directly applied difficult enough. The African persons responsible are all okay to orient the mathematicians toward the health statistic and epidemiology:

The purpose of the School is to introduce young African mathematicians to some recent developments of Real and complex Analysis, as well as to its role in Applications of Mathematics. On one side we will focalize on properties of spaces of holomorphic functions and operators acting on them, on another side we will develop their links with applications, in particular with controllability of linear systems and inverse problems in potential theory (that arise for instance in medical engineering).

Recently, many important improvements on algorithmic design for logic and algebra ended in powerful softwares allowing more effective treatment of more abstract problems together with new applications. This school aims to introduce all this recent algorithmic improvement in logic and algebra, and to exhibit some applications in computational algebraic geometry, cryptography and numerical document engineering.

These results open many promising perspectives in very applied fields and in new theoretical ones.

The aim of the school is to explain the use of software in recent research work on complex dynamical systems. The school is devoted to continuous dynamical systems and discrete complex dynamical systems. The theory of wavelets is also part of the program because of its links with fractal sets.

From September 08-19, 2025, the University of Douala of Cameroon (through the Faculty of Science) and the Technical University of Braunschweig of Germany (through the Computational Sciences in Engineering study program and the Center for Mechanics Uncertainty and Simulation in Engineering) will co-organize (with the contribution of Advanced Sciences and Technology Academy, a private Institution in Douala) a CIMPA Summer School at the University of Douala on the topic «On Modern Mathematical Tools in Mechanics ».

This research school offers an intensive program covering advanced topics in symplectic topology, differential geometry, and related topics. Through introductory courses, exercise sessions, and advanced lectures, participants will explore fundamental questions such as the symplectic non-squeezing theorem, rigidity of Lagrangian intersections, random nodal sets, and convex integration for solving nonlinear differential constraints. In addition to theoretical aspects, programming sessions will allow participants to apply modern computational methods to solve partial differential relations.
