As a continuation of the activities in Kurdistan, supported since 2008 by the International Center of Pure and Applied Mathematics (CIMPA) and the Embassy of France, Salahaddin University Kurdistan-Iraq organizes in collaboration with the laboratory of mathematics Jean Leray, University of Nantes and the University of Diyala Iraq, a spring school on "Inverse problems : Theory and applications" from 4 to 15 May 2014.
The school has two major goals:
- The first is to provide training, by and for research in the field of applied mathematics. Indeed, the school will offer to students of master, PhD students and researcher who are not experts in the field of inverse problems around this topic that covers many areas of research ranging from modeling to simulation through mathematical analysis of partial differential equations and ordinary and delay differential equations as well as recent results based on new numerical methods.
- The second objective is to promote and encourage research collaborations. On the one hand, and between international researchers in mathematics and their interactions (including the Gulf countries and other neighboring countries), on the other hand, researchers from University and industrial researchers. Indeed, the school offers an adequate and pleasant encouraging meetings and discussions between experts of scientific computing, mathematical analysis and modeling as well as engineers, around applications in medicine, environment and industry.
This school will also allow establish:
- research collaborations on topics that will yield significant scientific impact (Master, co-supervision of theses, research stays ..) between international researchers, master students and researchers in the region,
- pedagogical collaboration. (teaching assignments, assembling Master, ...) between European universities, universities of the Gulf region and neighboring countries.
The scientific program of this school will include lectures, seminars and times reserved for participants who wish to present their work. The objective of this last possibility is to introduce the participating researchers and their areas of current or initial training to encourage those who cannot afford to go to expose their work at international conferences.
The course of this school as well as original contributed talks will be subject to eventual publications.
