Distribution and objects are two central players of current computer sciences and industry. It all started about 15 years ago with the advent of both objectoriented languages and the beginning of the facto networking in operating systems. The trends became even more dramatic with the outgrowth of the Internet, the Web, and electronic commerce.

This school proposes to study the problems, techniques, and solutions arising in such a central issue: objects and distribution. The courses are targeted on the language and application layer, the objective here is not to directly address the operating systems, and network/transport layer aspects.

The Java programming language will be used as the main platform for the practical sessions taking place during the school. The participants will also have the opportunity to experiment with Corba.
